Portrait Photography Preparation

You are about to make an investment that will probably be shown to many people and will last as long as you take good care of your pictures. Make the best of your investment by taking some time and putting as much thought into your session as you can. All your effort will be worth your trouble.
Your emotional state and physical well-being will show through in your photos!
Please call us to reschedule if...
  • You or someone else who is in the shoot is stressed or had a bad day.
  • If your day at work or home was bad.
  • If your child is sick
  • If you are sick
  • If you are "not feeling pretty" (women understand this, and some men too ;-) )

 Come in fifteen minutes early to relax and make any final "adjustments" you may need.
 
  • Clothing
    • Have a couple changes of cloths ready to optimize your time.
      (We have changing facilities in our studio)
    • Don't forget matching shoes and sox for those full length shots
    • All family members should dress in similar colors and style
    • Wear solid darker colors. Bright colors and bold patterns distract from the person.
    • For women
      • Plunging neck lines can distract from the face.
      • Skirts too short to sit or lounge in can sometimes be difficult to pose in. 
    • For men
      • Don't wear T-shirts
      • Don't wear baggy shorts above the knee (see skirts above)
         
  • Props
    • It is always a great idea to bring something you are interested in (within reason). This could include; musical instruments, sports gear, etc.
    • We also welcome you to bring props such as hats, outrageous or period clothing.
       
  • For outside session, be sure to wear clothing you feel comfortable wearing for short walks.
